We have two MCs from Codycats and can’t speak more highly of Mary Rose. Mary Rose is devoted to her cats and made absolute certain that we would care for them properly and love them. She cares for her cats so much that she may come off as brusque, but we’ve found that it’s her love of these cats that drives her. She is extremely knowledgeable and takes her role as protector of her kittens very seriously. She wants to know that the homes where these kittens will be raised are the proper environment for them. And you can’t ask more from a breeder than that kind of love for her cats. We have listened to all of her advice and any time we have questions, even years after bringing Marley and Keajra home, she is there for us (and them). Our cats are healthy, beautiful and have delightful personalities. They bring us joy every day and we thank Codycats for that!

MaryRose contacted me two Saturdays ago about adopting a kitten. She spoke with me on the phone for nearly 2 hours. Had me pick out a kitten. Make a vet appointment AND set a date. She then doesn't talk to me for 2 days( I'm trying to get her a deposit) which is fine because one of the days was a holiday. But when I call her in the evening two days later about sending her a deposit she informs me this isn't going to work out. It turns out she didn't read my emails before calling me. She hadn't read my paperwork and didn't realize I had informed her about missing one of the records on my current cats that my vet was getting over to me and I had gotten to her promptly that evening after realizing the mistake not my vet hadn't sent the info yet.
She still tells me this isn't going to work out after having me pick out a kitten set a date and make a vet appointment. My heart is absolutely broken this is the worst experience I have ever had with any form of business. I do not recommend codycats. It was extremely unprofessional and heartbreaking.

Kathryn I reserve the right to sell to approved homes. You had questions that needed to be answered about your present felines. I did not receive a call back or email from your vet. One of the stipulations of final approval.

Seriously? And you couldn't give me a follow-up email that you hadn't heard anything from my vet yet? Who is extremely extremely extremely busy. I gave you all of my vets information including their email and phone number you could have reached out to them if you hadn't heard anything yet or me. If that's your excuse for why you didn't sell me Narcisis it's absolutely pathetic. What a horrible experience.

I do not often write reviews about businesses but I feel morally obligated to in this case. We purchased 2 Maine coon kittens in 2015 from Codycats. One of our cats (Leo) had a crossed eye when we picked him up, Maryrose never mentioned this to us in previous email communication. She told us, when questioned on pickup day, that her vet assured her the crossed eye would go away (and we had already placed a deposit) so we took him but it never did. This was a minor issue which we let go since Leo was otherwise healthy. Our other cat (Max) became very ill twice (at ages 1 y/o and 4 y/o) and required several days of inpatient hospitalization at Angell in Boston both times. His brother Leo, although exposed to the same foods and environment, did not get sick either time. A couple weeks after Max's 6th birthday he seized and went limp. We rushed him to Angell again but he was dead on arrival. It was one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic things my wife and I have ever had to go through. We decided to have the necropsy done and a board certified pathologist at Angell determined the cause of death was hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a congenital condition. We had Leo checked out and he appears healthy at this time but the vet cardiologist recommenced he get a yearly echo for the rest of his life based on the condition which killed his brother. We contacted the breeder and have been met with extremely unprofessional and accusatory behavior. She demanded all of Max's medical records (which we gave her) and to speak with all of the veterinarians that have been involved with Max's care, which I was somehow supposed to facilitate. Although we have a necropsy report that states he died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy MaryRose still refused that he had a congenital heart condition and continued to come up with outlandish reasons that we were to blame. She made a terrible situation much, much worse and only seemed interested in denying any responsibility. We spent thousands of dollars trying to give Max the best care we could but he ultimately died of his congenital heart condition. I don't wish for anyone else to deal with the heartbreaking health conditions of a pet like we had to and even more than that I do not want any other animal to suffer like Max did. I strongly recommend you do not use or support this breeder.

Joel you could not send us proof of Max being the mc who died. His necropsy results clearly stated the wrong color of the cat who died. The vet wrote he was a Maine Coon mix. We only breed purebreds.

Maryrose, as I told you before I had no control over what they arbitrarily put down for his breed/color on the necropsy. He could have been confused as a mix and cream is not an incorrect description of his color. The proof you asked for is literally impossible to provide, very convenient for you. This is clearly just another excuse for you to deny all responsibility. Let me tell the other people reading this that Max was absolutely the cat we bought from Maryrose and codycats. If you think her ridiculous claim may be valid just look at the other reviews and the health issues others have had with cats purchased from her.

We had many wonderful Codycats Maine Coons. Each one big, beautiful and perfectly healthy with the best temperament. They have been beloved members of our family. There is nothing like cuddling with a Maine Coon and listening to them purr. I think the key for me has been listening to the breeder. I have only fed the foods recommended by her. And, whenever I have had questions the breeder has provided invaluable advice. Everyone should have a Codycat! They are one of a kind!

33 years and not one review, Odd, well I will give you mine. First time using a breeder. I lost my beloved Maine Coon this year. Not only has it been the most heart breaking event but when you talk to many breeders who are sympathetic and kind and there's that one who is just well, passive aggressive, rude, acted like she was doing me a favor when I'm the one paying thousands. Not only was I told off a couple times for a simple question her emails were aggressive and condescending I felt if she was this intense in an email then face to face would never work. Because I for one do not care who she may think she is. All in all I found her arrogant, rude and mean. I met so many amazing people and breeders avoid this one you will thank me.

I also have 2 cats from her. They are lovely with great temperments. However, one has a serious health issue and the litter mate has allergies! Interesting. I wonder if all have the same parents.

I have had many cats from her and my 3rd male died this morning at 8 almost 9 years old(too young). My first boy died at 5 (kidney failure), my second boy died of a heart attack at 6 years old, my 3rd boy died early this morning at 1:11am. He looks to have had a heart attack because my husband woke up and saw him and called out to me and he was lying there unresponsive. I just knew he was gone and I kissed him and told him I love him. I wrapped my boy in a blanket and held him and rocked him for awhile. I also paid $4000 for emergency surgery when he was 2 years old for a hiatal hernia which they told me they had never seen insides like his ever. Not even in text books and they told me they consulted doctors around the country. His liver was fused to his heart. Every extra moment with him was a blessing. He lived 6 more years and was on CBD.
My female I got from her died of congestive heart failure this month last year at 12. I’m writing this on here because this is not a coincidence. I’m not even attempting contact with her because she will never own this or even recognize these issues. My heart is broken yet again from losing my baby way too young because someone is negligent in her breeding program and obligation to those who trusted to adopt a FAMILY MEMBER from her. I am just so heartbroken right now and angry.

Your MC's were given to you. We knew of the congenital issue. We discussed it. I have your latest males mother. My daughter owns her. She just turned 14 yrs old.
One male died of the food poisoning (kidney failure) w Iams yrs ago, When you lived w My son.You NEVER owned 3 males MCs from me. You are not full filling your contract for proof .You never produced necropsy results to any of your claims as per my contract. You never reached out to me.Your comment" he looks to have died of a heart attack" does not rule out accidential poisoning( eating human medication or food), possible injury (from your dogs), stroke, toxins(CBD etc), spider bite or any other issue. You are not a veterinarian or a board certified cardio pathologist. IF you cared to have the reason for his death you would have contacted me after necropsy. I agree about one comment you have made it's not a coincidence. Be honest. Stop the slander.

Maryrose, I purchased Nicky, I purchased Thia, and I purchased Navi. They were not given to me. Dragon and Zen were given to your son. Dragon and Zen’s mother Fabian was giving to me because you were done with her and were giving her away so I took her. I have called you many times and told you of their issues and instead of saying you would look into it or be a decent person you flat out just said “there is nothing wrong with my cats”. Even told me that Navi’s vet was lying to me when he was a kitten because I called and said he had herpes on his mouth. The vet said he had gotten it from his mother.
This is not slander. It is awareness for buyers.
Every pet I own is treated like royalty and I told you 1000 times that I always strictly fed them the food you recommended and the litter. You exaggerate and fabricate stories and I am truly baffled by it. I just want you to listen to people and not be so stubborn when they tell you there are issues. You just are hurting the animals and buyers by not looking into it.
And there was never poison or any foreign substance introduced to any of my cats ever. It was heart issues in Nicky, Navi, and Thia. The vet specified this in all 3 of them. I wrote the above review right after Navi had died and before the vet had opened that morning and I could take Navi there.
(It has been 8 1/2 years since I have purchased a cat from her)

Kristin, Again stop the slander. We never received a vet email or call describing anything you allege.Navi and Thia were given to you. Not aware of a Nicky.. Stop making things up. You are not a vet. Again my daughter has Navis mother who is 14 years of age and healthy. We have never had herpes diagnosis. We never received an email or a phone call from your vet. Substantiating your claims. Fabienne was a very special female . We were not done with her. My son took her to love into her well deserved retirement. Dragon was a very dear beautiful kitten my son feel in love with. I gave him as a gift. Your wild dog Sabbath chased him an Fabienne. Dragon fell out a window two stories up. Dragon could have died. This was years ago. Twisting the truth to suit your narrative. Very sad.

AGREE. Very very rude when a client reaches out and inquires about the process of bringing a loving pet into their home. I would NEVER go with this breeder.
