After a few years recovery from a divorce the time had arrived to treat myself to a new Z06 Corvette. As a long time Corvette enthusiast and as a part owner of a used car dealership I was familiar with the name Kerbeck Corvette so I figured I would start there as the 2 major players in Georgia, in my opinion, didn't deserve the business based on previous dealings with them. (Maxie Price Chevrolet & RickHendrick Chevrolet.)

I called Kerbeck and the new car representative stated that if I wanted to order a new Z06 then I would need to leave a 10% deposit. (approx.$10 000) This would begin the process which would take up to 3 months for the car to be built, he went on to say I CANNOT be pre-approved with them because their approvals are only good for 30 days so so I would have to wait an additional 60 days before I would know whether I would be approved OR whether I would simply forfeit my $10 000! I asked him if there were any alternatives and I was told there weren't . As a business owner I'm aware that some practices have to be put in place even though they might be unpopular with the buying public and I wanted to afford this representative every opportunity to earn my business however I was denied that honor right from the starting blocks. I made the evidently terminal mistake of mentioning that I'm a car dealer so please try and work with me even though I was purchasing the car on a personal level and not to resell. Once her heard the word car dealer that was it. He simply stated in clear and concise terms, "We don't sell to dealers," and with that he hung up the phone.
I wanted to tell him I wasn't purchasing the car for or through my company but rather strictly as an individual but I wasn't afforded that opportunity.

A rookie salesman quickly learns the expression, "telling isn't selling, asking is." It seemed to me that their representative wasn't a rookie salesman but rather an authoritative figure in the company as he took it upon himself to immediately hang up on me again and then simply refused to answer the phone thereafter.

In summary I simply have this to say. Sometimes on the ladder to success we might forget what got us there in the first place, so in my opinion humility should never be replaced by arrogance and contempt. I have never been so disrespected in ANY dealings not even for the simple purchase of a Coca Cola let alone a six figure car. My recommendation? Unless you enjoy the infliction of pain and suffering stay far away from these guys !!!!
