Found staff in the ANZ branch, Levin to be extremely polite and helpful. However, before that, I contacted the help line with regards to possible card fraud, after leaving the UK. The man was very condescending and highly frustrating. He did not have any empathy and even gave the impression that he supported the merchant over me. I was disgusted and felt enraged with his attitude. When I told him that I was going to take my business elsewhere, he sniggered at me. After I told my husband of my distressing experience with the man, my husband called the Regional Bank Manager to express his concerns regarding the attitude of the member of staff in question. My husband couldn't believe the treatment he then received from the so called manager, as he was accused of having a vendetta against the member of staff!! He proceeded to tell my husband that to investigate the complaint would use up such valuable time of his and that as far as he was concerned, it was us who had the problem. Unbelievable to think that things have changed so much to when they first opened here in NZ. Once they would have valued each and every customer, now, it would appear that those days have gone as they seem solely interested in protecting their own staff and their profits. No longer in ensuring that that the customer is supported.

We will close all accounts with the ANZ and will move to another bank. Very dissappointed as my husband had been a customer of the ANZ for over 40 years.
